Phonencian Game

You awaken in a vast white void, you seem to be lying on solid, flat, ground, groggily, you find yourselves standing up.

You all seem to be standing in a circle, and all around you, other circles of people seem to be materializing, as they too begin to groggily awaken, and stand up.

It seems everyone here is around for the same reason, but what is that reason? There's little to do but speculate, it seems.

I turn over, resisting the urge to go back to sleep, I open my eyes and pick myself up so that I am sitting upright and look around.

I stand up, looking around me, wondering what kind of place this is and why is there other people appearing.

I stand up, and stare with curiosity of what is happening right before my eyes.

Feels a little bit drowsy and stumbles a bit in my attempt to stand up, my vision is a little blurry but I constantly shake my head to make it go back to normal. I look around and I finding myself asking Where am I? Why am I here? Who are this people?

I get up and look around the place, slighty annoyed because awaking in a weird place standing on a circle instead of a comfy bed is annoying.

As you all begin to stand, you see darkness creep out from beneath each of your feet, expanding and joining until the floor below is black, like the void you were once in.

Fred notices the darkness creep out from under our feet and tries to jump away from it.

Fear grows within as I see this darkness, but for some strange reason I also feel some warmth as well.

Observers the darkness and the reactions of the others while wondering what will happen next.

Is staring at the darkness with an impressed face but also slightly worrying if he's about to die.

As the darkness grows and stretches along the floor, joining and coalescing, it begins to spread up the walls, which look to be endlessly far away from you, the you can see it stretching, climbing, higher and higher as pieces of it move and cover the ceiling itself, until the white void you were in has become a pitch black one, the only colours present being the people around you, looking around, their expressions are all different, some fearful, others accepting, others simply amused.

Finally, from the ground below your feet, tiny gemstones emerge and hover into the air, combining and merging in a multicoloured pattern, they form a humanoid shape, with no face at all, hovering above you all like a gigantic, omniscient entity, it speaks, and the whole room echoes.

"Welcome... to the Phonencian Game."

''Phonencian Game?...'' he asks looking at the figure above him ''What's it about and what do I have to do?''

"I think the better question in this situation should be "Where are we?" he asks.

"Or how about who are you?" I ask the mysterious figure

"I am Diamos, the creator of this game." He replied, his voice echoing across the expansive void that this place is.

"If you wish to escape, and to find out who you are, then you must abide by the rules of this game."

"The rule is simple: Find your gemstone, and do not lose the one you are given."

Suddenly, from his hand, a rock, pieced together by gemstones of varying colours, appears, and splits into a vibrants whirlwind of colour, flying up and swirling across the entire ceiling of the room.

Fred looks up at the rocks and raises his hand as if he was trying to grab one.

I just stare right up at the rocks and cross my arms.

He looks at the gemstones, observing them while thinking wich one belongs to him.

Ziel looks at the gemstones and asks. "What do these gemstones represent?"

Diamos merely continues, ignoring every word you say, despite this though, you cannot shake the feeling that he is staring directly at you.

"You shall be granted powers in order to defeat your enemies, and in order to find your gemstone, but be warned... your opponents shall be just as powerful as you are."

Suddenly, the whirlwind disperses, as a single gemstone flies straight into each of your chests, you all shudder in pain as you collapse, unable to move, visions flash in your eyes.

A few moments after having the visions he gets up, still feeling some of the pain. His expression now a serious one, he looks at Diamos ''When does this game of yours starts?''

Once the visions are over and he finally can move, he gets up pondering about how the obvious has been confirmed: There's no way out except by completing this "game".
When the others get up, he will just listen silently.

Fred falls backwards in pain as he watches the visions. After the visions and pain has stopped he pushes himself off the floor and sits up yet again, and for the second time looks around.

Once the visions and the pain stops still dropped on one knee Ziel looks up panting and waits for further instructions because at this point nobody has much of a choice.
